Out of all the brand new {hardware} that has handed via my arms in 2025, nothing has made an affect like a sure Wi-Fi 7 router has
For somebody whose day by day job is to write down about, check, and assessment PCs, elements, and peripherals, you’d assume I would know immediately what my prime decide for one of the best {hardware} of 2025 is. The issue is, I have been completely spoilt for selection this yr.
Completely none of it has been garbage. Even the merchandise that did not get a excessive assessment rating nonetheless had some characteristic to make them stand out a bit from the group, or provided one thing particular for the suitable person. I completely adore Thermal Grizzly’s Der8enchtable, for instance, however it’s near-useless for many PC avid gamers.
Likewise, I used to be left actually disillusioned by the Naya Create, however I wager that with all its ‘early entry’ niggles mounted, it could possibly be the last word ergo keyboard for some people. And I can say just about the identical about something I’ve reviewed or used this yr.
However there’s been one piece of package that is graced my workplace in 2025 that, and I say this with no trace of hyperbole, has completely modified my day by day PC life, each for work and gaming. Imagine it or not, it is a mere router. Sure, I do know that the technically appropriate phrase is ‘a router, swap, and wi-fi entry level all-in-one machine’, however what I imply.
Particularly, it is the TP-Hyperlink Deco BE68 (or BE67, in case you purchase it at Amazon) and persevering with with the theme of specificity, it is a mesh router. Principally, you get two or three nodes/hubs/routers within the field, and you’ll both hyperlink them collectively through LAN cables or allow them to mechanically create a seamless community through Wi-Fi.
The key sauce behind the Deco’s brilliance is Wi-Fi 7, and I can inform now, with all honesty, switching from a Wi-Fi 6 community to a house stuffed with Deco wi-fi connectivity has been one of the best improve I’ve achieved… properly, not simply this yr, however in all probability the previous 5 years.
I’ve a 1.1 Gbps fibre connection to my home, however with my earlier Wi-Fi community, I might solely ever get a obtain velocity of 450 Mbps, perhaps 500 at finest. Given the placement of my workplace and the character of the home, trailing LAN cables in all places is not an possibility, neither is utilizing powerline adapters to route the community via {the electrical} mains rings.
That is all a factor of the previous. Utilizing simply two out of three hubs within the Deco BE68’s field, I now have a wi-fi community that I’ve completely no downside hitting my Web connection velocity restrict with. In fact, I solely get that on my PCs which have Wi-Fi 7 motherboards, however because of the Deco’s triple bands and the multi-link operation (MLO) characteristic of Wi-Fi 7, older {hardware} nonetheless enjoys nice networking speeds, too.

Whereas the Kinesis Gaming Freestyle Edge RGB Plus and Razer Professional Click on V2 Vertical imply I’ve a stress-free physique throughout work, they solely profit me. The TP-Hyperlink router has improved everybody’s digital life at dwelling, although for essentially the most half, they’re utterly oblivious to it.
I am not, although. Now not do I’ve to clarify ‘Why is the Web sluggish?’ or magically make somebody’s film cease buffering whereas I obtain a 100 GB recreation for testing. Since switching to the Deco BE68, no one has complained as soon as about our web connection. I can obtain Baldur’s Gate 3 for testing a CPU in lower than 20 minutes. I’ve a number of networks for heavy customers, visitors, and IoT gadgets—none of which had been tough to arrange.
Positive, I want I nonetheless had the Ryzen 9 9950X3D or Alienware 18 Space-51 I reviewed, however even when I did, they actually would not have made as large an affect on me, my dwelling, and everybody in it because the TP-Hyperlink Deco BE 68 has.
Oh pricey Lord, I am gushing over a bloody router. Fast, any person ship me a brand new CPU or graphics card to assessment that triples my body charges. I imply, that is the kind of factor PC avid gamers wish to examine, sure? Not ‘Nick’s household have not seen how nice the Wi-Fi is now’.
