The Steam Winter Sale kicks off with offers on a few of 2025's greatest video games, together with PC Gamer's 2025 Sport of the 12 months
Winter is the worst time of 12 months. It is chilly, it is moist, it is darkish, the roads are horrible, and cooking on the grill is a full-on headache. The one factor that does not suck about winter is the onslaught of huge year-ending videogame gross sales, and the massive daddy of all of them is now underway: The 2025 Steam Winter Sale has begun.
As at all times, we’ll be whipping up a listing of our fave dealios to get you began, however proper off the hop there isn’t any overlooking that among the 12 months’s greatest releases are getting markdowns for the festive finale together with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, PC Gamer’s 2025 Sport of the 12 months, which is half-price within the Winter Sale—the primary time it is gone that low.
The opposite large factor to look at for is the Steam Awards: The nominees throughout 11 distinct classes now stand revealed, and now you can solid your vote to your favorites. You have received till the tip of the Steam Winter Sale to mark your ballots—winners can be introduced on January 3, 2026.
And whereas it is not instantly associated to the Winter Sale, Steam additionally kicked off its annual year-end Replay yesterday, an accounting of all you probably did on the massive storefront, and the way it compares to the remainder of the world. It is a surprisingly (some could say alarmingly) detailed rundown, however one factor that shines via for all of us (within the combination, anyway) is that we actually like our older video games: Solely 14% of playtime spent by Steam customers was put into new video games. (Personally, I put 68% of my Steam time into new releases, but it surely wasn’t actually my fault.)
Whereas the Steam Winter Sale is the undisputed king of the hill, it behooves me to level out that it is price purchasing round whilst you’re digging for offers: The Epic Video games Retailer historically does not have the super-deep reductions of Steam gross sales however its Epic Rewards program can generally can greater than make up for it, and Epic can be doing its common year-end recreation giveaway extravaganza—17 free video games in whole over the course of its vacation sale. GOG is working a winter sale of its personal, which I at all times love looking via as a result of I can set my desired most value to love $2 and have actually dozens of issues to flick thru that I would by no means run throughout anyplace else.
The 2025 Steam Winter Sale is reside now and runs till 10 am PT/1 pm ET on January 2. See any exceptionally good offers the world must learn about? Tell us within the feedback.
